GSO Test

'Success for all, in all we do'

Secondary Transfer

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils and the school places that Fircroft pupils are offered.

In recent years, Chestnut Grove in Balham is the secondary school that the highest proportion of our pupils transfer to. Every year, several of our pupils are successful at being offered a selective place (high test score) at Graveney School in Furzedown. We also have pupils who are offered places at nearby grammar schools and some who choose to attend independent schools which may be a scholarship route or a fee-paying route.

In order to prepare for the Secondary Transfer Process, we hold talks for parents while their children are in Year 5 and again at the start of Year 6.

The Year 6 Wandsworth Test

Some Wandsworth secondary schools use partial-selection or fair banding as part of their admission criteria. The Year 6 admissions test is designed to provide these schools with the information they need before offering places. Pupils who attend Fircroft will take the test at school, during school time.

Wandsworth Council have introduced an online registration that parents must complete in order for their children to sit the Wandsworth Year 6 test.

You must register your child for the test if you are considering applying for a place at:

Ashcroft Technology Academy

Burntwood School

Chestnut Grove Academy

Graveney School

If you have no intention of listing any of these four schools on your preference list, then you need not register your child and they will not sit the test in September.

The closing date for test registration is 11 September 2022.
