Wider opening of school
Thank you all, once again, for your support and patience over the past few months. We are all incredibly happy that school will be open fully from Monday 8th March 2021. We can't wait to see you all soon!
Government guidance for schools has been updated and we have published our updated risk assessment along with all the ways we will be working to mitigate risk. Please scroll down to see the links at the bottom of this page.
Attendance will become mandatory again from Monday 8th March 2021. Please ensure that holidays are not taken during term time and that any absences are reported to the school office.
Staggered soft start and collection
For those of you who are attending school this term, these arrangements will already be somewhat familiar to you. Your punctuality will be essential to this system working effectively! We will continue to operate a one way system from Fircroft Road entrance to Mandrake Road exit. It will not be possible to enter via the large blue gates on Mandrake Road.
Please ensure children have washed their hands prior to leaving home in the morning. They will wash them immediately on entry into their classroom and regularly throughout the school day. Promoting excellent hygiene is a key element of reducing the risk of infection. Scooters and bikes will be allowed on site as we are keen to support families who wish to cycle rather than travel by car or public transport however we will need to monitor this closely in case it causes delays during drop off and collection.
Uniform and Equipment
We return to full uniform expectations and it will be even more important than usual to ensure that pupils’ items are clearly named. Please see this link for information about how to order school uniform and name labels: https://www.fircroft.family/School-Uniform
Please ensure your child comes to school every day with a full, named water bottle. The guidance recommends that pupils have their own items that are not shared.
If your child is in Year 2 – Year 6 it would be really helpful if you could supply them with their own small pencil case filled with basic equipment in it such as an HB pencil, black pen (KS2 only), some colouring pencils, sharpener, rubber and a glue stick. We will absolutely make sure that no child goes without, but every little bit helps as COVID has severely impacted our school budget.
Clubs, PE and Swimming
We are planning for clubs to run in the summer term as usual for 10 weeks.
No trips are being planned at the moment. We look forward to the time when we can once again make the most of all the amazing museums, galleries and theatres that London has to offer, once it is safe again to do so.
Behaviour Policy and Child Protection / Safeguarding policy
These policies will be amended in line with the latest government guidance once it is published in August. We anticipate that amendments will be minimal. These policies were last updated in June 2020 and are below.
Pupil and Family Well-being
We recognise that in our community there will be families who have suffered more than others during lock down. Financial pressures, bereavement, illness, anxiety and loneliness can place a huge strain on families and individuals with the impact being felt from the youngest to the oldest member. Whilst it might be hard to do so, please do share with school any information that might help us best support and care for your children on their return to the classroom, or indeed whilst they continue to shield at home.
Lastly, we would like say a huge thank you to all our families who have joined in with our Virtual Summer Fair. We are so impressed by all the members of our school community who have come together (from a distance!) and supported each other in a myriad of ways; from selling cupcakes, to donating apples and laptops and delivering books. You are all amazing and we are truly grateful! We can’t wait to welcome you all back in September!
