Nursery Learning From Home 15 - Week Beginning 29th June

Hello everyone,

We hope you are all well and enjoying the beautiful sunny weather. Last week was certainly a hot one in Nursery, but the children absolutely loved playing with boats in the water trays and this helped cool us down a little!

As we are nearing the end of term, we will be working with our older children to prepare them for their transition to Reception, whether it be here at Fircroft or elsewhere. For our younger children, we will be talking to them about staying in Nursery and helping us welcome our new starters. It’s a really good time to start talking about the Autumn term and helping the children feel excited about the next step they’ll be taking in their school life! Reading books about school is a really nice way to get the conversation started. We love these ones, but there are plenty more out there to enjoy.

Thank you to Preeti, our PTA co-chair, who has found out about a lovely local project run by Transition Town Tooting called 'Sharing Seeds', which encourages people to 'adopt' a local street tree and plant seeds around its base. This fits in really well with our Nursery 'Growing' topic. If you have ever walked down a local street where residents or 'Guerrilla Gardeners' have planted flowers around the base of a street tree, you will know how uplifting it is for passers-by to have a little oasis of colour on our grey pavements.

Tooting Market have linked up with an art organisation called 'LoveArtClasses' to invite budding local artists to submit a piece of 2D art for an Art Competition on Tooting Community life in 2020. There is an under 16s category with a 1st and 2nd prize for the winners plus a chance to have their work on display in the market. Please see the flyer below in Learning Resources for all the information. Good luck!

Lastly, we thought you might like this version of the song 'We are the World' that we have been enjoying listening to. It’s sung by the Voices of Hope Children’s Choir and is seriously beautiful!
