Nursery Autumn Blog 9 If You Go Down to The Woods.......

This month we have read several stories set in the woods, including Where's My Teddy by Jez Alborough, Oliver's Wood by Sue Hendra, and Mog's Missing by Judith Nicholls. This week we wanted to learn more about trees, so we talked about the different parts of the tree. We curled up as small as a ball on the carpet to be a little seed in the soil, then stuck up one arm to make a shoot, and over various seasons, involving sunshine, rain, wind and storms (sound effects all provided by the children of course!) we grew onto our knees, then stood up to be tall trees. We had roots, a tree trunk, branches, leaves, and bark to protect us. Then we watched our teacher draw a tree, and all had a go at drawing a tree ourselves. The adults were so impressed with all the children's drawings. You can take a look at some of them below.
