Five's Fabulous First, Full Week
Wow? What a wonderful, whirlwind of a week it has been. We have both been extremely impressed by the students this week. They have all settled in to life in Year 5 with ease.
Thank you to all of you, parents and children, for making such a positive start to term and the new school year. Thank you also for bearing with us as the arrival and dismissal arrangements have been tweaked to streamline things. It is lovely to see the children arriving at 08:50 and get collected from 15:10.

Maths Challenge
The children have been set a challenge to learn a rhyme about rounding numbers. Here is a poster to help them learn the rhyme.

Star of the Week Assembly
Our Virtual Star of the Week Assembly went off without a hitch and a photograph of the recipients was tweeted on our school Twitter account. Please click and follow our school account to keep up to date with life at school. We can be found by clicking @FircroftSW17.
Google Classroom
Also today, all Year 5 children have been given their username and password to access their own Fircroft, Google Classroom account, which will be linked to lessons in class, home learning and other sessions over the course of the year. Spellings were sent home today and will be tested on Wednesday next week and formal Home Learning activities will begin on Friday 2nd October.
Sauce Competition
Amazon & The Sauce Shop, inventors of last year's hugely successful Brussel Sprout flavoured Ketchup, have created a competition this year where children can enter to design the 'next big thing' in Christmas ketchup flavours.
